A Fall Contemplative Book Study Just This by Richard Rohr 3 Tuesday Mornings, September 12, 19, 26 10:00 AM - 12 PM (Please plan to attend all sessions, if possible, to build community) This small book is a collection of brief and evocative meditations and practices that invite us to cultivate the gift of waking up to the beauty of reality in all its glorious ordinariness. It creates a spaciousness for the soul to grow into a kind of seeing that goes beyond merely looking, teaching us how, not what, to see. It’s the heart of contemplation - the centerpiece of any inner dialogue. It was a gift to donors to the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) a few years ago, and the founder of CAC emphasized that the “and” is the most important word in the name. We will read prayerfully, about thirty to fifty pages a week, taking notes, marking up the margins! When we gather in our contemplative setting with some music and quiet listening, we will share what we are learning, what God is showing us. Led by: The Rev. Catherine Powell, D. Min., Founding Servant Leader, The Anchorage, who earned degrees from the University of Florida, Erskine Theological Seminary and Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP). Her formation also includes the Spiritual Guidance Program of The Shalem Institute, the 30-day Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius as well as training at the Jesuit Center, Wernersville, PA to lead 8-day Ignatian Retreats. She was ordained in 1999 and delights in family, friends, music, learning and nature. Her greatest sense of call is to one-on-one spiritual direction both monthly and during retreats. Her deepest passion is for everyone to know how much they are loved by our holy and gracious God. Click here for more information about the 2023 Fall Book Study.
